Wellness Trends Defining The Modern Home

Designing for Wellness in 2026

Three wellness trends defining the modern home.

Trends come and go, but prioritizing your well-being remains essential. As we move through 2026, one of the most defining shifts in modern living is the rise of wellness-focused home design.

Wellness looks different for everyone, and the routines that support it are deeply personal. Your home should reflect that. Whether it is a spa-like retreat, or a quiet space to reset, bringing your wellness routine into the home changes how each day begins and ends. It creates a way of living that feels more intentional, more grounded, and entirely your own.

When your environment is designed to support your daily rhythm, it becomes easier to stay consistent, reduce friction, and live with greater intention. This is what defines a home designed for longevity, one that continues to support your life over time.

The In-Home Sauna

A space that helps you reset.

A highly sought after feature in 2026 is the in-home sauna. In our Modern Refreshment project, the space was transformed into a private retreat, drawing from Scandinavian traditions known for their restorative benefits.

Reset looks different for everyone, but having a dedicated space to slow down changes how you move through the day. Warmth, quiet, and separation from the pace of daily life create a natural place to restore.

Paired with a walk in shower or soaking tub, the experience becomes part of a routine rather than something occasional. A moment to unwind at the end of the day or reset before it begins.

Over time, it becomes less about the feature itself and more about how you feel living with it. More rested. More balanced. More at ease in your own home.

The Private Dressing Suite

Elevating your daily routine.

Wellness can be as simple as making daily routines feel effortless. Designed with intention, the space brings order to the start and end of your day, where everything has its place and what you need is visible, accessible, and considered.

In our Rustic North Ranch project, the dressing suite is designed as a private extension of the primary, blending warmth with a refined, modern aesthetic. Custom cabinetry and curated materials create an environment that feels both elevated and personal, while thoughtful organization removes friction from daily routines.

Mornings move with ease. Evenings feel more settled.

More than a closet, it becomes a place to begin and end your day with clarity and calm. Organized environments are linked to a greater sense of ease, supporting calmness, positive emotion, and a feeling of control.

indoor-outdoor living spaces

Making light the center of everything.

In this Westlake Village remodel, the connection between indoors and out became a defining part of how the home is experienced. Expansive openings, unobstructed views, and a natural flow between spaces allow light to move freely throughout the home, shifting from morning to evening and shaping each moment along the way.

Studies show that people in spaces with natural elements such as plants, views, and light recover from stress faster. By creating a strong connection to the outdoors, the home begins to support not just how it looks, but how it feels to live in it.

One of the most impactful ways to design for wellness is to prioritize this relationship. Natural light. Fresh air. Views that evolve throughout the day. With LaCantina bi fold doors opening directly to the backyard, the transition becomes effortless, extending living beyond the walls of the home.

Designing for this level of connection requires intention, from considering the path of the sun to integrating openings that draw light deep into the interior. Once it is there, it is hard to imagine the home without it.
