These homeowners wanted a kitchen that satisfied their California contemporary aesthetic but still suited the home’s traditional architecture. The result was a space with clean lines and a palette of black and tan. The subdued version of this classic color combination contributes to its timeless appeal.
The original layout of this kitchen closed in the space. The curved island ate into a lot of usable space. The clients needed a solution.
As the main living area for a busy family, the new space needed to have many functions. It had to be comfortable for casual family meals and have the conveniences required to make larger family gatherings go smoothly. The JRP team worked with the client to add a second sink and adjacent beverage fridge with lots of counter space. This area works as a fully-equipped prep and buffet area. Double-wall ovens and a family-size counter depth fridge also fulfill these requirements. This space’s muted colors help to exaggerate the vibrant foliage just out the large window, making nature the star of the show.
This contemporary kitchen really accentuates the original architecture in this home. The large windows let in all kinds of natural light and makes for almost fake-looking pictures! In all, this beautiful California contemporary kitchen was completely customized to fit the client’s needs and style.
